I can't believe I'm blogging. Over the past couple of years, I have taken wrong turns and landed on people's blogs and wondered what kind of self-centered people would actually take the time to write about themselves. So now I will be self-centered and blog about me and mine! I hope to share a glimpse into my life and what I do.
I'd like for this blog to focus mostly around my crafts obsession. The name "Hearts and Crabs" may seem awfully strange, but it is so natural to me! When my daughter was very young, she loved to do artsy projects with me. When I would tell her it was "Arts 'n' Crafts" time, she thought I was saying "Hearts and Crabs" and, thereafter my crafty time is truly hearts and crabs time. Still to this day, we bond over "hearts and crabs" projects, even with her little brother in tow.
Right now, I am obsessed with paper mache. I never worked with paper mache before and got a hair-brained idea one night (yes, the ideas wake me up in the middle of the night). I learned how to make paper mache pulp and went to town. I'm loving it! I've made a couple of female figures and a cupcake. Included here is a photo of the cupcake. It is actually a box. The top of the cupcake comes off to reveal a small box to store trinkets inside! I will post photos of the women shortly.
I also have wild ideas for lightbulbs ... yes, I said light bulbs. My ideas are fleeting, but I will take pics along the process and post here to keep track of my progress.
